4th National Armwrestling Championship on May 29 at Rashtriya Raksha University

The Rashtriya Raksha University (RRU) in Gujarat is preparing to host the 4th National Armwrestling and Para Armwrestling Championship from May 29 to June 2. This prestigious event is expected to draw more than 2,000 athletes from across India, showcasing the growing popularity and competitive spirit of arm wrestling in the country.

Jointly organized by the Armwrestling Federation of Gujarat and the People's Armwrestling Federation India, the championship will kick off with an inaugural ceremony on May 30. Notable figures from the arm wrestling community, including Preeti Jhangiani, President of the People Armwrestling Federation India, and Praveen Dabas, owner of the Pro Panja League, will be in attendance, along with representatives from the Armwrestling Association of Gujarat (ASAG).

The event is set to be one of the largest arm wrestling championships ever held in India, with participation from athletes representing 27 states. The North-Eastern states are expected to have a strong showing, sending approximately 350 athletes. Kerala will contribute 289 participants, while Uttar Pradesh and the host state Gujarat are projected to field 140 and 105 athletes, respectively.

This championship aligns with RRU's vision of enhancing its capacity to host large-scale sporting events, particularly as it gears up to serve as a host institution for the 2029 World Police and Fire Games. Furthermore, it supports Gujarat's expanding role in the global sports arena and complements Ahmedabad's ambitions to host the 2036 Olympics.

The championship not only highlights individual talent but also fosters camaraderie and sportsmanship among participants from diverse backgrounds.
